Manorbier Medieval Fishponds Restoration Group

A group of local volunteers which was set up to look into the possibility of restoring all or part of the medieval fishponds of Manorbier Castle as described by Giraldus Cambrensis in the 12th century.  The group is also trying to make improvements to the mill and dovecote which are part of the Castle's medieval landscape.

For more detailed information on the work of the group go to the website at

Skrinkle Tenants And Residents Association.

 (STAR).  Manorbier.

The Skrinkle Estate to the east of the village of Manorbier was part of the Manorbier Royal Artillery Range (now Manorbier Air Defence Range) until the MOD wound down the range in the late 70s to what is left today. The Skrinkle estate (named after Skrinkle Haven, a local beach) and the adjoining Wheelers Way/Windy Ridge estate housed the service personnel operating at the base, the houses being sold to South Pembrokeshire District Council for Social Housing in the early eighties. Over the years, new homes have been built by various Housing Associations and more are currently under construction. Skrinkle estate comprises of 3 Avenues, Hounsel, Gray and Dewing and in total there are about 118 homes being a mixture of 2, 3 and 4 bed roomed houses and a small number of 1 bed roomed flats. However most of the original MOD houses have now been bought by the tenants and the estate is mostly in private ownership.

STAR was formed in the mid eighties to promote the estate and community spirit and has achieved many improvements to both the properties and the roads. Although working quietly in the background, it still continues to address issues and help build community spirit, working closely with the Manorbier and District Community Association and liaising with Pembrokeshire County Council through their Community and Housing departments.
